Program Notes: Score for the Film The Birds

A proposed main title opening for the classic 1963 Hitchcock film The Birds. Scored for 96 musicians, the film did not have any soundtrack to it, and yet was a perfect vehicle to show off a full orchestral score.

Also included is an excerpt from the cue to the final climatic scene where Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) is mauled by hundreds of angry birds. An intense scene with marvelous editing and gripping photography, the full 96 piece orchestral score adds to the overall terror and to Melanie's pending demise.

Miss Hedren said this of the score to her famous scene: "Marc's score for the upstairs scene is most exciting and gives the scene a thrilling feel."
