Program Notes: Concerto for Viola and Orchestra (2007)

Commissioned by the Musical Nova Orchestra of Arizona, the work is dedicated to violist Hong-Mei Xiao and written in memory of my mother Elizabeth Parella who passed away on February 9, 2005.  

The work includes a rare orchestral soprano singing vocalise.  The soprano is symbolic of my mother's years as first soprano with amateur choral groups in New Jersey.
